New Addition

Well! We have a new addition to the farm! A month ago we adopted a wild burro from the BLM at a satellite adoption here in our home town and named her Delilah. After a few days we got the suspicion that she was pregnant and sure enough, exactly a month after she came home with us, BABY! For three days we thought that we had a Meadow, only to realize that we actually have a Samson. Momma is still a little bit protective so we couldn't get too close to tell but both are making improvements in socialization!

Samson and Delilah :) have a wonderful Wednesday folks.

Studio

At LAST my lovely studio is near finished and it deserves a few shots :) The wedding ring looking one is being hand quilted and is currently hanging on a hand frame. I started that quilt for my grandmother right before she was diagnosed with lung cancer and she passed shortly after the top was done. She got to see the overall effect but never got to see it finished. The other two quilts are laying on my new quilting table! Well, its technically a target special quilting table back to back with a plain ol desk but its really working wonderfully. Both of the quilts on said table will be going in the shop shortly.
This is a close up of the quilting on the wedding ring looking quilt. My grandma LOVED sunflowers so a sunflower is quilted into each circle and you can't really see them but vines are around each edge in the colored part. The name of this quilt is "Betty's Sunflowers"
This is a close up of the quilting on the girl's twin bed quilt that will be going in the shop. Vines are quilted into each "paddle" to give them direction and different flowers are quilted into each brown square and the center of each main block.
This is a quilt that I made over the weekend. I think it turned out kind of cute :) this will be going in the shop upon completion as well.
And another shot of my studio, this time featuring my ironing board, fabric shelves and "inspiration wall". I have 6 plastic buckets of fabric in the closet but the fabric on the shelf is arranged into sets that I think look good together or that I already have a plan for.

Monday Whimsy

Well its the end of the stereotypically dreaded Monday and I'm sitting in my comfy corner couch chair (otherwise known as the nest, or C cubed) and looking around at the room and just noticing a few things laying around that testify to the blessed life I lead. The size 11 mens walmart variety work boots that my husband bought when he got on at the refinery kicked off haphazardly next to his coveralls in the middle of the living room floor make me happy. A half american, half canadian flag given to us as a joke gift by his grandparents is poking it's head out of an unpacked box. A folder of quilting patterns cut out from magazines and sketches on graph paper is overflowing onto the couch. I am so grateful to have a husband that loves me. I am so grateful that we both have jobs and that I now have family in another country and can proudly fly our half and half flag. Quilting speaks for itself. Happy Monday guys.

Swollen Brains And Swollen Egos

Well, we finally got our apartment mostly unpacked (ok so actually boxes I just don't feel like going through have been shoved in the guest room closet, but hey, the living room is usable, I am TO a good wife). Had a bit of excitement with the washer. You see, it flooded the kitchen, and of course as I'm running the grounds desperately trying to find a maintenance guy I get stopped by our very sweet, talkative, alcoholic neighbor who feels that it's a wonderful time to stop me and tell me his fascinating  idea about improving the dog poop area of the complex. Eventually however I did hunt down a maintenance man who came and fixed the washer and left and that was that... until I went to clean up the water and ended up slipping and hitting my head on the corner of said washer, leaving me wet, dizzy and with a fairly extensive concussion.HOWEVER! My sewing room is the greatest thing since the electric iron. Yes, it is that fabulous, and yes, it deserves pictures. I will be posting soon! As well as some lovely quilts that are almost done :) Have a fantastic monday folks.

New Begginings

With a new apartment, a new online store and a new sewing studio, I thought it was about time for a new blog. We just moved into the apartment and it currently looks like an episode of "Hoarders". I should probably be unpacking like a diligent wife or looking for a full time "real" job instead of using the internet on an unsecured network but meh. The only room that has gotten any attention is, of course, the sewing room. My excuse is that I intend for that to be my real job soon so it needs the love. I'll get some pictures posted of new projects and the new room soon! Or maybe I'll just check facebook again.

P.S The new website is www.etsy.com/shop/rougeponyquilts and you can find me on facebook by searching, you guessed it, rouge pony quilts.
